Top Picks: Blue and Navy

Navy is probably one of the all time favourite colours (and blue). It appears on nails, it's the colour of all my clothing, most of the stuff I own is this colour. The only thing that isn't navy/blue is my actual room seeing as that might be a little dark if it was navy. So it'll come as no surprise that there's a whole post dedicated to the top picks of the blue polishes in the stash including the favourites and the most used polishes.

Rimmel Pro - Navy Seal

Sorry there's no GOT challenge today, just a simple review! Rimmel Pro is definitely growing in my estimations as well as in quantity within the collection, this is due to how reliable I find it. There's never any real question when looking at in the store that it might be gloopy or runny as previous experience with the brand is fab. That means if I like the colour and the price, I'll buy it. This particular colour isn't an exception to the rule as it's brilliant. (If ever I find a Rimmel Pro that doesn't live up to expectations you'll be the first to know.) Lovely colour and lovely application.

This little beauty is called 411 Navy Seal. It's a brilliant colour due to the fact isn't a normal navy colour - its dark blue but with a slight hint of a grey colour making it slightly different to the vast majority of navy colours. These can sometimes be quite loud in colour, however this one seems lightly less bold and a little bit mute. Well the photographs will speak for themselves...

Blackberry by Barry M

It certainly lives up to it's name in colour, as the title of the post suggests the nail polish is called Blackberry and the colour of this nail polish is a dark navy which could be mistaken for black in some lights believe me. As I have always been a lover of blue and definitely navy when I saw this nail polish I had to have it so much so I bought it then and there!

Additionally this colour was chosen as it'll match almost every item of clothing I own which is a major plus. When purchasing this colour, it was the first one of the Gelly Hi-Shine (Watermelon was also purchased at this point) with only a slight price increase to the normal Barry M nail varnishes I was a bit confused as if there would be any major difference between the two collections...

Believe me there is a major difference between the two collections, as said with this collection's name there is a lot more shine and it's much easier to get it as the solution is lovely and smooth! With applying the first layer of Blackberry, the colour is very blue so you could probably leave it there for the colour but I am more into the darker colours so another layer was definitely needed for my nails.

Now it's more a Blackberry colour, applying the second layer was lovely to do and it shows it in the evenness of the nails and also how shiny they are (as shown in the second photograph) Additionally the nail brush in this bottle of Barry M was brilliant to use, it's making me think whether the Watermelon brush was a dud? A fab nail varnish from Barry M yet again...

Barry M - Watermelon (The first of quite a few!)

After doing quite a few little posts about new nail polishes that have been accumulated in the nail polish stash, I've decided to go through the stash bit by bit so that the old but equally as good are shown to you. Seeing as I paint my nails with these colours most of the time but don't show you guys seeing as it's a quick paint instead of a blog post special paint....

I went for Watermelon by Barry M and isn't in just in the right sort of colour scheme for the not brilliant weather at the moment, also good for this season at the moment. As per my normal posts, I'll still show the different coats as they are being put onto my nails. Here's the first layer

The only thing that's different is the fact that I am trying to cut down on the amount of photographs that are similar as the previous posts have quite a few! (But that might be a negative thing cutting out on the photographs, it hasn't been decided yet.) As you can see from the photographs, the dark colour appears in the first coat instantly opaque which doesn't happen in all nail polishes. The colour itself is a dark turquoise/slightly green which is the reason it was purchased in the first place as it's right up my street.

These are with the second coat added, it doesn't make much difference to the colour but it just makes sure the coverage is perfect. The solution of the nail polish is lovely as it's so smooth not grainy at all. Seeing as Barry M isn't super speedy at drying I covered the nail polish in the top coat of Insta-Dri by Sally Hansen which completed the lovely manicured nail polish! Only con of this nail polish is the brush which it comes with, but that is my own personal preference - there's nothing wrong with it.
