Last Minute Adjustment: Purple Reflects! and Snow Globe

This polish looks very much like a going out on the town combination, but reassurances it's not. When painting Purple Reflects! on to the nails it just didn't seem quite right like there was something missing, in the end it was decided the manicure needed glitter. Snow Globe was chosen as there was a need to test this one out as the other Sally Hansen glitters had been so successful. It wasn't sticking to the polishes list that had been created, the deviation was worth it!

It's another nail of the day post as I am certainly enjoying doing these little insights into everyday nail varnish combinations on my nails! It means showing you the polishes which are well loved and great to wear on your nails, even though they are getting on a bit in their age.

It's 320 Co-bolt Blue by Sally Hansen and 350 Diamond Glitter by Barry M. Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri collection has been a massive hit out of the nail polish stash seeing as it goes on easily due to the fact that it goes on even and no streaks and it also comes off easily which is quite surprising as they aren't light shades. As Co-Bolt Blue is quite a metallic colour I decided to try out a silver glitter gradient, here's the results:

GOT Challenge: Valentines!

This week's theme is Valentine's. This one gave me a lot of ideas but not all of them where really feasible for my skills at the moment but hopefully will in the future! The idea that stuck was a glitter gradient, which I haven't done before so I had help from SheKnow's Glitter Gradient How To to guide me through all the steps.

Today's nail polish is a combination of a golden oldie and one from the Mount Untried. 222 Fuchisa Fun by Maybelline has been rumbling around the collection for about two months as it lost the competition to Pink Bikini from the Colour Show. 350 Diamond Glitter has been a staple in the collection for a while so much so it's been repurchased a few times... GOT Challenge: Green

Hello! This week's choosing of a nail polish was an easy peasy decision seeing as the first ever green polish that was purchased is still my favourite one to this day. Although it hasn't been used in a while therefore it was the one to be picked. After that the design was a little tricky but The Sequined Nail's Metallic Spot Gradient definitely inspired this quick little art design over the top!

These are selected nail polishes; NP 284 by Barry M (It's so old it's lost it's name.) and 819 Sublime Plantine by L'Oreal. The combination was due to the fact they are both metallic polishes meaning they'd compliment each other. Barry M will be the base colour as the Challenge is based on green this week and L'Oreal is the nail art colour. Here's the first coat...

Combination of Magnetic Polishes.

When I last posted about magnetic nail polish, I did get a bit crazy seeing as there were two posts in quick succession about magnetic nail polishes which I thought was a bit naughty of me but there is now an upside to this because I have needed the magnets from them on another magnetic nail polish which I purchased recently. Now the Sally Hansen "Silver Elements" Magnetic Nail Polish Review was very positive seeing as it was really easy once you read the instructions, but I do confess this isn't such as positive review sadly.

Slate Spark by Sally Hansen is a lovely coloured nail polish seeing as it's a metallic-y style nail polish with hints of glitter which is blue so it stands out from the rest. However the design of the magnetic is the great let-down on this particular nail polish seeing as the design is slightly misleading as it doesn't come out like it should...

The left one is the lid that came with the magnet which I thought would mean the design would be like crosses on the nails however this didn't happen and the design was way bigger the nail so it didn't appear as the lid design. BUT the nail polish was salvaged! I used another nail polish magnet lid which was also used - Barry M "Burgundy" Magnetic Nail Varnish and the nail polish was saved, here are the results:

There you go, a brilliant polish but not a brilliant magnet to go with it. I am hopeful that I just received a dud magnet seeing as the previous magnetic nail polish by Sally Hansen was brilliant and easy to use. Another lesson for you guys that you can mix and match the magnetic lids meaning less purchases as you can re-use other nail polish magnets!







Crackle for a trip away!

Now I was setting this post to be put up on a certain day seeing as I was going away. But when I arrived back I realised that this didn't happen and there's been no new blogs, so here is what you guys where suppose to get two days ago... I wanted to paint my nails extra specially well so that they would look amazing with little effort and they'd last all the trip. What is simple to create an amazing effect on your nails? It wont come as a surprise that I'll be using crackle nail varnish, it appears in seconds and doesn't make a mess! I'll reveal the crackle nail varnish a little later on in this little blog but here's the base colour which has been picked...

It's recently been reviewed on this little blog and it made such an impression I am doing it again. (really soon after...) This little beauty is a Sinful Colors nail polish that I picked up in Boots and the colour is Savage which is a bright blue which is one of the many favourite colours I have currently. There is only one con I have to disclose to you guys today is that I discovered that the brush in this nail polish is a terror for dripping nail polish everywhere! And I promise it's not my poor holding skills which causes this. Onwards and upwards to the crackle nail polish, these crackles are probably seriously out of date seeing as they were purchased at a 99p shop but they are good quality, they are:

China Glaze - Platinum Pieces and Oxidized Aqua which are really really really glittery crackle nail polishes which look really great, the only downside is that they don't stand out as well as normal crackle nail polishes seeing as they aren't a solid colour. Here's the results...

Pretty crackle-ly and glittery! That's all my Christmas wishes rolled into one nail polish! Obviously the crackle lines don't stand out that clearly as others would but I think I'll be able to live with that seeing as it's glittery... They wouldn't be top of my recommend list for nail polishes but if you can get them at the price I did, I'd recommend them then. If you can't I'd recommend the solid colours by this brand instead.

GOT Polish Challenge: Pink!

Afternoon everyone! I am going to participate in a nail blog challenge which is a first for this little blog. Additionally there will be another first of using the nail art brushes I ordered, as I was originally going to wait until all of the nail art stuff had arrived but I just couldn't help myself. Oops! The whole idea of Golden Oldie Thursday is to sift through the collection and dust off old polishes that are still useful and really cool, this gets a thumbs up from my blog.

This week is 270 Hot Shot by Rimmel, I not really sure how old it is but it's the oldest pink I have used on my nails as I don't actually own it, it's my older sister's.

Even though it's possibly a few years old, a bit gloopy to apply but still a lovely rich pink on the nails. It's lovely and glossy as a polish probably due to the fact that it's from Rimmel which are always on top form. Sadly possibly this may not be used again seeing as mentioned earlier it's a tad gloopy to apply...

Here's the second part of this little post, the first attempt at a nail art as the nail art brushes arrived this afternoon. (It's not to fancy.) Seeing as silver goes with basically everything, the layer over the top is silver and it's got silver glitter as well. (Too much of a glitter addict!)

1st ever attempt at Magnetic!

Seeing as it's going to be the party night of the year this evening, I wanted to post to you guys something fun and sparkly and magnetic nail varnish fits the bill. It's definitely different and really shimmery. I decided to start with a named brand such as the lovely Sally Hansen seeing as trying with cheap ones probably wont work as they aren't as good a quality. I will let you into a little secret though... this was purchased at the £1 shop again! Just to say this will probably be quite looooooooooong seeing as it's partly a tutorial and there's many photographs - sorry!

So here's the varnishes with a lovely backdrop which is quite Christmas-y colours :) It's the Base & Top Coat by Barry M and Magnetic Nail Colour in Silver Elements by Sally Hansen. So here is my step by step tutorial to using the lovely magnetic nail varnishes, the only thing I'd say beforehand it's basically practise makes perfect. Don't be disappointed like me when it wasn't perfect the first time...

Step 1. Apply the first coat thinly and evenly.

Step Two. Apply a second coat, you may skip this step if you feel you don't need to but I did seeing as the one coat wasn't opaque enough to cover the nails.

Step Three. As I am basically a child and enjoy applying crackle effect to nail, this step was a great step as well as it's really cool to watch happening to your nails. This is when you apply a thick coat of nail varnish then immediately after place the magnet above the nail. (You have to do them one at a time.)

Being one of those people that thinks they know everything, I didn't read the instructions before doing this so I only applied a thin coat of nail polish meaning they didn't come out well as seen here:

Only two fingers had the desired effect so warning to you guys read the instructions first on the nail varnish effects to get it correct on the first attempt (I now had to read do my nails at this point as I was naughty and didn't listen to instructions...)

 

Step Four. Apply top coat.

Step Five. Relax and enjoy your nails, they look amazing! I'd recommend this brand of magnetic nail varnish as it was really easy to do and get the magnet to work it's magic. Also a Happy New Year to you lovely readers.
