NOTD: Maybelline Colour Show Polka Dots and Barry M Watermelon.

Today's blog post is a Nail Of The Day post which is another popular post circling the beauty blogosphere at the moment. Now the reasoning behind this post is trying to whittle down the older polishes I love to wear regularly but haven't shared with this little blog. And the inspiration to this combination is a dotty spotty bag that I am wearing with the outfit.
These polishes are called Rain Forest Canopy by Maybelline Colour Show and Watermelon by Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine. An additional reason for combining these polishes is that Rain Forest Canopy isn't a very opaque nail polish therefore cannot be applied by itself. Therefore adding a similar base colour below Rain Forest Canopy would make the polish look much better!

Watermelon is really easy to apply seeing as the brush is the normal thin straight edged brush creating a neat line at the bottom of the nails, the solution of the polish is the right consistency as it's not too runny/gloopy and it goes onto the nails evenly as well as opaque across all the nails. As you can probably tell now, I love this polish... Next is adding the funky effect nail polish.

Adding this top coat looks quite funky, from a distance it looks as if I've used a dotting tool. Meaning a great effect with less of the effort! This is always a plus in my book. However I do have some sad news if your loving this effect polish, it's a limited edition polish meaning it's not readily available unless your willing to search through ebay for a few hours... which I am considering to get other polishes in the collection. Any of you lovely readers doing a NOTD posts? I'd love to see others, they've all been great on Bloglovin' so far.

    1. I really like this combination - when I got the Watermelon I realised it would match perfectly which is great for not having to do loads and loads of Polka Dot coats! :)

  3. I bought this Maybelline polish when it first came out, and used it with only a clear coat underneath, so it took around 3 coats of the polka dot polish to cover properly. Which meant it was a 100% pain in the butt to remove, I literally had to scrape away some of the dots haha. And even ended up giving the polish away haha. I wish I'd seen this post before hand, I have Watermelon already!
Great idea & post :D xx

    1. I bought these first came out and did it on its own also (mainly due to the fact I had no other nail polishes) and it didn't turn out well so gave up on it. But with a similar colors underneath it looks amazing wish I'd tried it before!! So much so I want to get the other colours from the polka dot collection. :)

    2. It'd be interesting to see what they look like with a white or even maybe black base colour underneath too! I hope you find the others, I'll keep my eye out for a post on them! :)

    3. I believe I've tried it with white before and it wasn't all that successful seeing as the polish in Rain Forest Canopy didn't come out even. But I'll have to try a black base. I'm currently looking for them on eBay...
