World Cup Nails 2014 - Italy!

Now this competition may come as bit of a surprise seeing as it hasn't been mentioned before on the blog - sorry about that. However Addicted To Nails... is participating in the brilliant nail art competition by Nailsxo and it's based upon THE WORLD CUP! Each participant is assigned a country to create a nail design for, then they follow their country through the World Cup and at the end there's a prize for best nail art and the participant with the winning country.
Addicted To Nails... country is Italy. There are a few links between myself and Italy as I have been there on holiday as well as having friends who live there so it's not a completely new country to myself.

Italy's flag is green, white and red which is what the nail design was to be based around. There were many ideas that could have possibly been done with this and were tried; water marbling (which failed before it even got to the nails) and paint splattering (which ended up as blobs of paint) so in the end a non-adventurous nail idea was created seeing as there was no time left. Oops. Here's the first coat:

There's the green part of the flag which came in the nail polish form of Envy - Sinful Colors. It hasn't been used before (I bought it then forgot about it) but the Italy flag had a particular type of green, this one fitted the bill. It'll definitely be used again. Envy was really easy solution to apply, not runny or too thin and dried in a really short space of time. Onto the next colour - white:

It's been heavily featured in the last few posts, white comes in the form of Snow Me White - Sinful Colors. It's a brilliant white base seeing as it's not at all streaky or patchy which has been really helpful in this design as it's layered over a dark base yet it's still perfectly white. Can you tell the design which is being created yet? Last colour to do is red, here we go:

There's the last part of the flag - red in the form of 325 Hot Gossip - Rimmel Pro which is a long time favourite as it's a great lasting polish that's easy to apply as well as remove without any stains. Recognise the design? It's the three wave designs which is popular with nail bloggers. Apologises for the lack of real nail art but this was the third attempt and time was running out! Oh nearly forgot here's the nails facing the correct way to match Italy's flag:
Let's just hope Italy's chances are better in the world cup than the chance of this design winning the nail art part of the competition. Did Italy win the World Cup the year before last? Let's hope so...
